Fifth Grade

The Fifth grade is a very busy time for our students. In the beginning of the year, students go to the Appalachian Museum in Norris where the students saw many artifacts and devices used by our pioneer forefathers. At the end of the year, students attend Pioneer Day at the Big South Fork National River and Recreational Area where they learn how the original settlers of the area lived.

Officer Joe Goad has been visiting classes with the DARE program, and will wrap up the year with a day at the Oneida City Park with all of the fifth grade classes from the county present. It should be lots of fun. In addition to these activites, students have also had exciting experiences with the Scott County 4-H Club.

All classes have four computer student work stations. They have used them with Milliken Math and Cornerstones English programs which have helped prepare the students all year for the TCAP's. Several CD Rom programs, such as Encarta and Bookshelf, are used as reference material. Fifth grade is an exciting year.
