First Grade

First Grade at Oneida Elementary School is an exciting place to learn. Each day students are actively involved in reading, writing, math and science activities. Learning to read is the highlight of First Grade. Through phonics instruction, guided reading, Writing to Read computer lab, writing workshops publishing, journals and reading aloud daily, the reading/writing connection is made.

Throughout the year, students participate in reading incentive programs such as RIF and Pizza Hut Book It, to hook students on reading.
