Third Grade

Third grade is a busy place at Oneida Elementary. For the third year, students are using a literature-based reading program developed by the third grade teachers. Excitement is generated by the fact that popular children's novels are used, in conjunction with the adopted reading series, to teach reading skills.

Third grade students utilize the computer labs for Writing-to-Write which teaches the systematic process of developmental writing. The lab also makes use of Math and Spelling programs.

A yearly feature of third grade is a study of the states. Students are given a particular state to study and they contact the tourism department of that state and request materials and information.

A yearly Science Fair and Spelling Bee are also prepared for throughout the year. Special recognition is given each six weeks to students with high attendence and/or who are on the Honor Roll. Progress in Oneida Elementary School can be measured by a varitey of tangible indicators. These activities are only a few, along with the basic curriculum, which make our school special.
