The third grade classes kicked off a year of Accelerated Reader with a visit by a real live author of children's books when Dave Sargent, author of the widely acclaimed Animal Pride Series,came to East Side School with his friendly pet skunk. To celebrate American Education Week, Superintendent Mike Bone came and read a book to the third grade students. In November the third grade classes study a unit on the Indians of North America ending their unit with a visit to a real teepee. What would December be without a visit from Santa? The third graders ended their study of the human body with a visit from Janelle Douglas and her Anatomy Apron.
