Students at East Side Primary have been participating in the Accelerated Reader program since January of 1995. This is a program that encourages the practice of reading children’s literature. Individualization of reading is easily achieved because of the availability of a wide selection of books of varying length and difficulty. Immediate feedback and accountability are an integral part of this program through the computerized testing component of the program. Points are awarded to students based on the length and difficulty of the book.
