Accelerated Reader Store
Our store is stocked with goodies ranging from candy to a football, that can be purchased with accumulated points. The store is open each Tuesday and Thursday from 1:30 - 2:00 p.m. at which time students may "shop til they drop"!
Guest Reader
Students who earns100 points are guest readers in Kindergarten classes.
Swimming Party
All students achieving 100 points are treated to a swim party at the end of the year.
Librarian for a Day
All students compiling 125 points become librarian for a day.
Coach for a Day
Students earning 150 points become the P.E. teacher for a day.
Art Teacher for a Day
Students earning 175 points become the art teacher for a day.
Music Teacher for a Day
Students earning 200 points become the music teacher for a day.
Public Library Helper
Students amassing 225 points travel to the Argie Cooper Public Library to be a helper.
Principal for a Day
Students earning 250 points become the principal for a day.
Read to Mayor
Any student accumulating 300 points are given the privilege of reading to the mayor of the city of Shelbyville.
Other Incentives
Throwing Water Balloons
For each 3 points earned during a specified time, students are given a water balloon and the privilege of throwing that balloon at the P.E. teacher.
Smartie Readers
Students who reach their individual goals for the week are given a pack of Smartie candies at the end of each week during the month of March.
Eggs-ceptional Readers
Around Easter time a small portion cup of jelly beans is awarded weekly for meeting an individual goal.
