East Side Primary School is proud to announce that Mrs. Donna Attig has been chosen by her peers as the Teacher of the Year for the 1999-2000 school year.   Mrs. Attig is currently the music teacher for both the East Side students and those at Southside Primary.  She has been teaching for nine years and has taught music for all grades K-12.  Before coming to Bedford County, Mrs. Attig was the Band Director at Moore County High School for two years.

Mrs. Attig has two daughters, Kaylyn age 5, and Kallie age 2.  They are the joy of her life, and she loves spending her time outside of school with them.   Reading is also a hobby of Mrs. Attig's.  Somehow she finds time to plan our end of the year music program that we all look forward to each year.

Congratulations to this year's teacher of the year, Mrs. Donna Attig.

Mrs. Barbara Lamb was chosen by the faculty as the East Side Primary teacher of the year for 1998-1999.  Mrs. Lamb is the librarian and our official "technology guru".  When the computers give trouble, we all call for Mrs. Lamb.

Mrs. Lamb, who received both her B.S. and Master's Degrees from Middle Tennessee State University, has taught sixth grade, fourth grade, second grade, and adult education before becoming librarian at East Side in 1993.  She had previously taught at Eakin and Thomas Schools in Bedford County and has successfully run her own business in Shelbyville for many years.

The mother of two grown children, Mrs. Lamb loves to find time for gardening, reading, Mission work at church, but especially playing with her three grandchildren.

Mrs. Myrna Cobb has been chosen by the faculty of East Side Primary as the Teacher of the Year for the 1997-1998 school year.  Mrs. Cobb who has been teaching for 27 years has taught all grades K-4.  In the last few years she has served as a Title I Reading teacher working with the second and third grade students.  Prior to coming to Bedford County, Mrs. Cobb taught in Memphis at Arlington School.  She joined the faculty at Shelbyville Mills School in 1963, and later moved to Eakin Elementary.  In 1977, she found a permanent home at East Side School and has been here for 23 years.

Mrs. Cobb has three grown children:  Ty, Kimberly, and Curt.   You can't be around her long, however, without hearing about her three grandchildren.  They are the joy of her life.  She enjoys spending time with her family (and especially those grandchildren), but when she isn't taking care of one of her family members, she loves to read.

East Side Primary is proud to have Mrs. Myrna Cobb as the Teacher of the Year!

1996-1997

This year's Teacher of the Year was veteran teacher, Mrs. Valery Pittman. Valery, currently teaching a Kindergarten-First grade split, was chosen by her peers at East Side School to represent them as teacher of the year. She has taught all of her 17 years at East Side School in either First, Second, or Kindergarten levels. Valery is married to Rick Pittman, and they have two children, Bradley 14 and Allison 12. Valery believes that all children learn at their own pace, and that it is a teacher's responsibility to teach each child to their full potential. The East Side Faculty is proud of their Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Valery Pittman.
