KITCHEN MATH

GRADE LEVEL/SUBJECT: Appropriate for grades 6-8
Math skills for daily living

OVERVIEW: This a a ten day unit plan dealing with kitchen math for daily living skills.  It was designed for a vocational middle school class.

PURPOSE:  Students will be involved in collecting, organizing information, making estimations, working with ratios, and doing measurements.

Day 10:  Students will use the rubric found below, taste prepared food, and discuss their new knowledge to evaluate and articulate  what they have learned.

Make Fair Decisions  Usually wants to have things their way.  Often sides with friends instead of considering all views.  Usually considers all views.  Always helps class to reach a reasonable decision.
