This activity addresses the following Standards and Learning Expectations of the Tennessee State Curriculum:

Grades 3 - 5: History

Standard 1: Students will exhibit a knowledge of history identifying and describing major events, people, and trends.

To achieve this standard, the learner will:

ü Recognize how the thirteen English colonies developed.

ü Examine the conflicts between the British and the colonies that led to war and independence.

ü Recognize how expansion of the new nation created conflict in North America.

ü Examine the roles and contributions made by African-Americans and other minority groups in American history.
