The first half of the Eighteenth Century brought many changes to our country. The Industrial Revolution caused big changes in the way people lived and worked. Complete the following activities to get a better understanding of this period in our country’s history.

 

Read the information on the Industrial Revolution. Answer the following questions.

1)     When and where did the Industrial Revolution begin?

2)     Why did England forbid factory workers to leave the country?

3)     How did Samuel Slater contribute to the Industrial Revolution in America?

4)     Name one of the bad consequences of the Industrial Revolution.

 

Look at the photographs of child laborers in factories during the Industrial Revolution. Write a poem or story about the life of the child laborers and their hardships.
