Fourth Grade Writing Activities

Thomas Intermediate School

Writing is a very important form of communication. To be sure other people understand what we are trying to say, we must learn how to write clear paragraphs. This activity will take you through the steps of the writing process.

= Study this site. What are the steps of the Writing Process? Either copy the steps on paper or, if you have your teacher's permission, print them. You will refer to these steps as you complete this track. Re-write a definition of these steps in your own words.

= At Paragraph Punch, you will actually write a paragraph online! Follow the steps to pre-write, make a rough copy, revise, and, finally, publish your paragraph. Be sure to cut and paste it into a word processor so it will all print. What was the hardest part about writing your paragraph?

= Now you are going to write your own paragraph. Scroll down to your grade level and choose a topic for your paragraph. Why did you choose this topic

= Proofread your rough draft. Do you need to use any different words to make a better picture for your audience? Use this online thesaurus to find synonyms of any words you want to change. Does your paragraph sound better with the synonyms? Share your paragraph with a friend. Make revisions and a final copy.
