NOV. 12th--VETERAN’S DAY RECOGNITIONEvery November 11, we honor the men and women who have kept America free and secure by serving in the Armed Forces of the United States. Veterans Day is a fitting tribute to the courageous men and women who were willing to fight for the ideals of liberty. In defense of freedom, they have cleared the seas, charged the hills, and covered the skies. They have never let us down. Through their service, our veterans have joined a long line of patriots willing to risk all to preserve our freedom and the American way of life. Many have died in defense of this country, and we cannot measure the value of the freedoms secured by their supreme sacrifices.

If you know a veteran, take the time to express your gratitude and appreciation for their valiant service.

HEADLICE—Remember to check your child’s head.

FROM THE ART DEPARTMENT—Due to an unfortunate misunderstanding and omission of the art grading scale in the Board of Education policies and rules, the only art grades that are allowed at this time on report cards are:

"S" for Satisfactory and

"U" for Unsatisfactory.

I have discussed this with my classes and they all have requested that I continue to evaluate/critique and average each individual’s artwork as per the first six weeks of the 2001-2002 school year; however, the only grades to be recorded on report cards will

be "S" or "U".

The Franklin County Art Teachers (FCAT) will present a consistent countywide assessment plan and grading scale to the Franklin County Board of approval as soon as possible. Ms. Bucher
