A Member of the Sequatchie Valley Business Education Partnership

On Your Mark, Get Set, GO

School-to-Career

The purpose of education is to prepare people to succeed in life. This means that schools should provide two essential assets: a high-quality academic education and a comprehensive career preparation. Neither one alone is enough to ensure that every citizen succeeds‹education must do both. But educators are not in this alone‹parents, business, and the community as a whole must accept the responsibility of educating children and preparing them for success.

Our Partnership strives to increase academic achievement and link learning to its applications in the real world through:
Career Awareness
Career Exploration
Career Orientation
Career Preparation
Career Advancement

What is our Partnership About? Our goals are:

.......to insure that all students in the four districts of the Sequatchie Valley Business Partnership are aware of all career choices open to them and are able to make informed decisions about their future;
.......to develop in each student the skills necessary for job success and lifelone learning'
......to protect and increase local and community resources.

In Order to Accomplish These Goals, we must.....

...train teachers in the methods and techniques of career guidance integration in the classroom;
...provide teachers with materials necessary to integrate career guidance into all areas of the curriculum;
...make teachers, parents, and students aware of the needs of the business world today;
...provide students with skills necessary to succeed in post-secondary education;
...provide on-the-job opportunities to students.
