The Aniakchak is a volcano along the Pacific Ocean rim in Alaska. It is part of the ring of fire that last erupted in 1999 or 2000. The last time the Aniakchak had an eruption was 1931. It is nearlysix miles in diameter and it covers 10 square miles. It is one ofthe finest examples of dry calderas on the planet. Within the calderathere is the source of the Aniakchak River which rushes through a 1,500gash in the 2,500 foot caldera wall. The park is located in the AleutianMountains.
