Denali National Park and Preserve

This 471,672 acre park attracts many by Mount McKinley's rare wildlifeand varied plant life as well as the Denali fault.  Mount McKinleyis the tallest mountain in North America at 2,022 feet tall.  Thetime to climb is May to early June.  In summer there is 24 hours ofdaylight .  This amazing national park is larger than the state ofMassachusetts.  On February 26, 1917 Charles Sheldon formed the firstAlaska National Park.  The park was originally called Mount McKinleyNational Park, it was renamed Denali National Park and Preserve in 1980. Denali is the local name for Mount McKinley which means high one.
