Gates of the Arctic National Park

The Gates of the Arctic Park is open year round.  The south sideof the Brooks Range below 2,500 feet is generally a sub-artic climate zone. Snow falls 8 to 9 months of the year, averaging 60 to 80 inches. The north side of the Brooks Range maximum and minimum February temperaturesare 35 degrees Fahrenheit and 47 degrees Fahrenheit.  July has a 60degree Fahrenheit temperature.  There are no roads or trails. The national park system compromises over 300 areas of special importanceto the people, a system that includes superlative natural, historic, scientific,and recreational areas.  Also, including the park, there are nationalpreserves, and wilderness areas, also six wild rivers.
