The Katmai National Park
By Sara
The Katmai National Park is located near King Salmon, Alaska. Katmai is famous for it’s volcanoes. It has fifteen active volcanoes including Mt. Trident, which has erupted four times in recent decades. The last time Mt. Trident erupted was in 1968.
Katmai National Park has not only really cool, active volcanoes, but lots of recreational choices. Lots of people enjoy recreation in Alaska. The number of recreation visits in 1999 was 51,399. Wow! That's a lot for the really cold state of Alaska. Here are some of your choices: snow skiing, backpacking, bird watching, boating, camping, climbing, fishing, hunting, kayaking, mountaineering, nature walks, white water rafting, wilderness areas, and wildlife viewing. I'm sure you will have a great time if you visit.
