Red Fox
by Russell
The Red Fox is a member of the canine family which includes dogs, wolves, coyotes and of course foxes. The foxes are about 22-32 inches in length and weigh between 6 and 15 pounds. Female Red Foxes are called vixens. The males are usually heavier than the females and are called dogs.
Strangely the Red Fox is an omnivore and not a carnivore like most people expect. They feed on voles, hares, squirrels, eggs, and vegetation. The foxes are very afraid of humans and are disappearing because of trappers.
