Shuyak Island State Park

By Cathleen

The Shuyak Island is located in Kodiak District area.  It is agreat place to visit.  There are 47,000 acres in the park.  There is fishing, camping, beaches, hunting, canoeing, and hiking trails. Can you believe it has only one tree species, Sitka Spruce?  I thoughtit had many.  You should see how much rain they have on the island,up to 4 - 6 inches per month in the summertime.  That is a lot ifyou ask me.  Shuyak Island  has great wildlife.  You cansee puffins, black oysters, cormorants, and so many more.  So, ifyou are interested you should go to Shuyak Island and have fun!
