Alaska's wildlife is as varied as the land itself..
As many as 3,500 bald eagles gather to feed on salmon
every winter. In the tundra caribou roam . Black and brown bears gather
along the coastline to feed on fish and forage for roots and berries.
Other mammals include
the mountain goat, dall sheep, bison, musk ox, elk , sittka ,black and
tailed deer, largest of all is the moose. An adult male moose can
weigh up to 1,600 pounds and can stand almost 6 feet tall. Sled dogs get
along with the trainer and other animals. The wildlife in the Iditarod
area is normal compared to other areas.
AN ADULT MALE MOOSE WEIGHS UP TO 1,600 POUNDS.
AS MANY AS 3,500 BALD EAGLES FEED ON SALMON EVERY WINTER.
