The Tennessee Sports Math Project was started in the summer of 1997. It
began as an idea from Dr. Gary Keplinger and was written as a grant proposal
to be finished in 1998. The project was designed to provide sports-related
activities for mathematics teachers in the sixth through ninth grade classrooms.
Our goal is to stimulate "at-risk" students who might be willing to do
activities related to their interests. Our project produced many activities
(which are located in the activity indices) that are available for free
to teachers, parents, students or anyone to use. We are always willing
to accept any ideas and/ or suggestions for any additional activities that
are not included (as well as those already listed on the site). We hope
to have some contests for students and teachers that will award prizes
from various sports organizations throughout Tennessee. [If you are a sports
organization, business or individual who would like to contribute some
prizes or incentives, please contact us at tsports@hotmail.com
