The National Museum of American Art
This site is part of the Smithsonian Institute on-line museums and galleries. It includes hundreds of annotated images from all areas of American art, reports of upcoming events, and interaction with some of the artists in the collection. The research resources in American Art were excellent. The White House collection of American crafts with "snazzy" video and audio presentations is very interesting.
