This is an extensive site for books on-line. If you are looking for a text, either in English or a foreign language, this page has compiled the numerous projects and sites taking place to bring literature to the electronic age. You can browse the collection or search for a particular book by author, title and subject.

Poetry
An index of well-known poets and some assorted works. There is a section on essays and humor as well as links to other sites including The Atlantic Monthly's Poetry Page.

Shakespeare
If you are interested in teaching or learning the works of Shakespeare, this is the place. Every major piece he has written is included here as well as a discussion area, a search engine for his complete works and a chronological and alphabetical listing of his plays.

Jack London Collection
This site includes full text of Jack London's novels (Call of the Wild, The Iron Heel, The Sea Wolf, and White Fang), one non-fiction(The People of the Abyss), and 15 short stories, all searchable. Also available are images of London's family and friends, selections from his correspondence, and several essays about the author and his work. There is an annotated bibliography of London biographies. This is a terrific find for anyone teaching or researching Jack London.

The English Server
The English Server at CMU is a cooperative managed by students, faculty and staff at Carnegie Mellon University. It has published humanities texts to readers online since 1990, offering over ten thousand texts in many disciplines. This is a comprehensive guide to book-related resources on the Internet. The site includes author interviews and tour information, in-depth book reviews, Publishers Weekly best seller lists, book awards, calendar of literary events, and a huge index categorizing listings for booksellers, publishers, and libraries. This site will be helpful in student research.

Publisher's Weekly describes this site as the "Grandaddy of all book sites". It is loaded with up-to-date information about authors and titles. In the "Bookshelf" section viewers can browse the comprehensive catalog of books by title or subject, or view author home pages. The "Publishers" section includes home pages of over 50 publishers and information about their new releases and current works. In the "Reading Room" section editorial columns, features, reviews, and magazines are available with weekly updates. This super index deserves a bookmark!

On-line Books
Direct links to 2400 pieces of literature in unabridged on-line text. The entire Guttenburg project is contained and several others. Site provides links to scores of other on-line text sites for foreign, technical, & childrens books.
