The Dyer School Media Center houses
15,000 books, audio visual materials, computer software, and periodicals.
Six computers provide ready access to the Internet, a variety of educational
software, and the Accelerated Reader Program.
A flatbed scanner, laser disc player, video players, and computers connected
to large screen televisions provide further opportunities for students
to use technology in a variety of ways.
In 1998, the Dyer School Media
Center received a TEA Tennessee Space Week minigrant for $500 to update
the space collection. Also in 1998, the media center received a Goals
2000 grant in excess of $16,000 to automate the center and make it
accessible to classroom computers in three buildings. A 1998 Technology
Literacy Grant for $6,130 further connected classroom computers to the
computer network. The Dyer community supports its school media center through
memorials and honorariums.
