Robert M. Fox Middle School was created in 1969, when a new high school was completed and the old high school building was converted into a middle school. It was named after Robert M. Fox, who served as Superintendent of Schools in Jackson County for many years. Later, a cafeteria wing and a 5th-6th grade building were added. The original building in the picture above was completed in 1939 and accomodated grades 7 and 8, as well as the principal's office, library, gymnasium, and other classrooms. Construction began on JCMS in 2001, and our new school was completed in the summer of 2002. Other Jackson County schools are Gainesboro Elementary (grades K-4), Dodson Branch Elementary, and Jackson County High School (grades 9-12).
