Going to the Mountain

Going to the Mountain is a Technology Literacy and Goals 2000 project that allows 4th grade students and high school visual arts students to collaborate in a publication project that involves field experiences and hiking for gathering, recording, researching, and publishing information in a variety of formats. Students work with a creative writer and a visual artist. In addition to traditional journaling, sketching, painting, and drawing, students utilize cutting-edge technology such as digital cameras, scanners, and laptop computers both in the field experiences and in the classroom. Specific technology areas include using research techniques on the Internet, teleconferencing, web site construction, image creation and manipulation, and desktop publication. The final product of this experience is this web site.
