Within the three county area of Morgan, Scott, and Fentress Counties, visitors may wish to spend time hiking, rafting, canoeing, fishing, hunting, and camping in nearby Big South Fork National River & Recreational Area, Frozen Head State Park, and the Obed Wild & Scenic River. These places offer a variety of hiking trails and rustic campgrounds. Lone Mountain State Forest and the Catoosa Wildlife Management Area are favorites of hikers, horseback riders, hunters, and fishermen.
Located southeast of Rugby is the historic city of Oak Ridge, where visitors may tour the American Museum of Science and Energy and sites associated with the making of the first atomic bomb.
History buffs can travel back in time at the Alvin C. York homeplace near Jamestown and visit the Muddy Pond Mennonite Community west of Clarkrange.
