Authors of the Rugby Home Page

This Rugby Home Page is a creation of a group of students from Wartburg Central High School in Morgan County, Tennessee, participating in the ConnecTEN project through the State Department of Education.

To showcase how various media, including the Internet, can be used to make learning an enjoyable experience, over 200 teams of teachers, administrators, and students were selected as ConnecTEN Teams across the State of Tennessee.

Central High teachers Judy Cross and Regina Headden along with 28 World Geography students were chosen to be part of the Morgan County team. Mrs. Cross is the computer teacher and Miss Headden teaches social studies. The World Geography class was selected because of the large number of students who were already enrolled in computer training.

The group chose to prepare a Virtual Field Trip of a local attraction in Morgan County and to use a variety of media to illustrate what they had learned. The students decided to learn more about the community of Rugby. After selecting the project the group wished to pursue, the Morgan County team was paired with another ConnecTEN team from Hardin County.

On April 24, Mrs. Cross, Miss Headden, and the students visited Rugby. Armed with cameras, camcorders, and notepads, the students combed the historic buildings in the area.

The students were divided into groups. One group created a scrapbook of snapshots, another videotaped and edited a narrative of the tour, and another created this home page for Rugby on the Internet. All of this information was shared with the students at Hardin County, who were preparing their own Virtual Field Trip on Shiloh.

It is our desire that a person visiting this home page will get a "feel" for what we experienced during our visit to Rugby and subsequent research of this community.

The students used the following sources while preparing their Virtual Field Trip:
