JMP Tutorial:
Negative Reciprocal Square Root Transformation

Click the link below and save the following JMP file to your Desktop:

Now go to your Desktop and double click on the JMP file you just downloaded.
This action will start JMP and display the content of this file:

Add another column to the table by going to the Cols menu and selecting New Columns...
Name this new column -1/sqrt(y).  Click the black down arrow next to Column Properties and select Formula:

You should now see the following formula editor window:

 

First click on the Division Sign:

You will see that in the center of the screen there are now two boxes:

Double click the top box, and you should see the following:

Type -1 on your keyboard and hit the Enter key.
You should see:

Click the bottom box and you should see a red line outlining this box, indicating it is highlighted.  Click the square root button:

and you should see the following:

Click the column Y = Stopping Distance.
You should see:

Click OK, then OK again.
You should see the following:
