Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cellular Biophysics

The Cellular Biophysics group at the University of Tennessee is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher with a background in physics, engineering, or chemistry who is interested in self-organization phenomena in living systems. This research opportunity focuses on understanding the organization and dynamics of the nucleoid, the dynamic assembly of cell division machinery, and cell cycle control in E. coli. Applicants with expertise in high-resolution microscopy, computational data analysis (including AI models), microfluidics, or bacterial cell biology will be strongly considered. Proficiency in coding is needed for this position. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development of nano/microfabricated fluidic devices for live cell studies, with fabrication taking place at the nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory. This work is supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The applicant should have a doctorate or be on track to receive the Ph. D. degree by October 1, 2023. The applicants should send a CV, a cover letter describing research interests/relevant experience, and names of three references to Dr. Jaan Männik at JMannik[@]utk.edu.
