Autonomous Systems Laboratory

Welcome to the Autonomous Systems Laboratory (ASL) at UTK!

About the Lab

The Autonomous Systems Laboratory (ASL) is affiliated with the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Our mission is to investigate highly efficient computational methods to improve and optimize the performance of complex dynamical systems. Our particular emphasis is placed on the research in control, optimization, and machine learning techniques for autonomous control, real-time optimization, and optimal decision-makings.

Our current research interests are as follows:

  • optimal control theory
  • convex optimization methods
  • machine learning and neural networks
  • real-time control and optimization
  • guidance, navigation, and control
  • model predictive control
  • distributed learning and control
