About Me

I am Lindsay Young Professor of Philosophy at the University of Tennessee, having done my graduate work at Oxford University, on a Rhodes Scholarship, and at UNC Chapel Hill. My research is mainly focused on ethics, Kant, and philosophy of disability.
My research explores themes of autonomy, freedom, dignity, and the attitudes, virtues, and ideals of moral and civic life.
My recent work includes developing the sovereignty conception of reason, editing major volumes on disability and philosophy, and contributing to discussions about the ethics of emerging technologies.
I'm a past President of the Society for Philosophy and Disability and past Chair of the American Philosophical Association Committee on the Status of Disabled People in the Profession.
