JMP Tutorial:
Bar Chart

Click the link below and save the following JMP file to your Desktop.

Now go to your Desktop and double click on the JMP file you just downloaded.
This action will start JMP and display the content of this file:

Click the Graph menu, go to Legacy and select Chart:

You will see the following dialog box:

Click the column Tire Model, then click the Categories, X, Levels button.

Click the column Count, then click the down arrow next to Statistics and select Data.

Your screen should now look similar to the following:

Click OK.  The bar chart is displayed:

To display the percent of the total each category represents, click on the red down arrow next to Graph Builder, select Show Control Panel, then next to Summary Statistic, click the drop down arrow and change Mean to % of Total:

Click Done. Your screen should now look similar to the following:

To display the actual percentages for each bar, once again click the red arrow next to Graph Builder, select Show Control Panel, then next to Label, click the drop down arrow to change No Labels to Label by Value:

Click Done. Your screen should now look similar to the following:

 

Unaggregated Data

Click the link below and download the following JMP file to your desktop:

Cell Phone Providers

Double click the file to open it.  Notice there is only 1 column with 871 rows:

Click the Graph menu, go to Legacy and select Chart.  You will see the following dialog box:

Click the Column Cell phone service provider, then click the Categories, X, Levels button. 
Click OK.
The bar chart is displayed:

To display the actual count for each category, click the red arrow next to Graph Builder, select Show Control Panel, then next to Label, click the drop down arrow to change No Labels to Label by Value:

Click Done. Your screen should now look similar to the following:
