Ensemble

If one couple's love story can sell a million box office tickets, why not multiply the number and conscript as many A-list movie stars that will return your phone call? In recent years that seems to be the thought process behind Ensemble Romantic Comedies. The love stories are true to life but the number of characters and plots to keep straight can be overwhelming. Below are the most successful films to accomplish two or more couples' romantic stories in the length of a feature film.

He's Just Not That Into You

Drew Barrymore and cast of coworkers in He's Just Not That Into You.

Rated: PG-13; Runtime: 2h 9 min

This 2009 film directed by Ken Kwapis is based on the self-help book of the same name. It follows nine people experiencing almost every relationship woe imaginable. The characters' storylines are loosely interconnected but I challenge any viewer to explain how after one viewing. The real treat to viewing the film is arguably seeing all of the actors share the same screen.

The cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Bradley Cooper, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Aniston, Ben Affleck, Justin Long, Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Connelly and more.

Love Actually

Keira Knightley and Andrew Lincoln in Love Actually.

Rated: R; Runtime: 2h 15 min

Movie viewers routinely rate Love Actually (2003) as the perfect movie. It's the perfect Christmas Movie, Love Story and Feel Good Comedy. Who doesn't want to experience England at Christmas time even vicariously through film? The story takes place five weeks before Christmas with 10 different storylines concerning love with a loose association to one another revealed as the movie progresses. Viewers have multiple options to pick and root for their favorite couple.

The cast includes Hugh Grant, Colin Firth, Emma Thompson, Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, Liam Neesom, and Alan Rickman.

Valentine's Day

Rated: PG-13; Runtime: 2h 5 min

Any of these actors could lead their own romantic comedy film (and many have!), so fans of the genre will want to see them interact together. All of the storylines take place in the days leading up to Valentine's Day. Taylor Swift even makes her screen debut!

The cast includes Julia Roberts, Jessica Biel, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Garner, Jessica Alba, Ashton Kutcher, Emma Roberts, and Patrick Dempsey to name a few.
