In “Folio Vestigium,” Margot B. Myers and Amy S. Porter present a large, modular woodcut printed on evolon paper, cut into strips and temporarily pasted to the riser of each step at the L&N STEM Academy. The images on the stair risers become coherent at a slight distance from the stairs, not unlike a giant unfolded accordian book. On the treads, prints of the same plates made with a contrasting ink will be pasted in a different configuration. Participants alter the work with residual dirt or oils on their shoes as they walk it. As viewers enter the installation, the larger image will become fragmented but their visual experience will become more intimate as they are able to see detailed parts of the prints up close.
