Zetas Helping Other People Excel is the National Service Program of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. An interactive holistic multidimensional outreach program designed to enhance, cultivate and empower participants to develop health promoting lifestyle choices across the lifespan. Specific to the population groups; Women, Youth, Seniors, Men, and International Women of Color. Z-HOPE is implemented across the United States and in selected International countries. When one reviews the conditions of “Black America”, it is evident that there still is much work needed to eliminate the disparities that are presented. Even though, as a society, we have technological advances, we, as a people, continue to experience more preventable diseases and ills. There is no dispute that a person’s health (physical, mental, and spiritual) impacts one’s ability to work, live, love and enjoy life. Zeta strives to increase awareness and prevention, as it should either decrease occurrences or lessen their impact! Empowering people to become active partners in improving the quality of their life is our goal! Information and knowledge in an understandable manner is POWER.  We often say “A Good Zeta is a Well-Informed Zeta;” and we hope that rubs off on the community as well.

African American Women’s Appreciation Awards

The African American Women’s Appreciation Awards is an awards dinner that honors the black, female students, faculty, staff we have at the University of Tennessee. The awards dinner is designed to bring light to the amazing things they have done for the campus and the students. The women honored serve in various capacities, fulfill obligations, and serve their campus wholeheartedly.

Black Lives STILL Matter Series

Black Lives STILL Matter Series is an ongoing program that highlights the struggles that the black community face everyday. This event is designed to remind others that even though the discussion about black lives is not a prevalent as before, it does not mean that our lives do not matter anymore. Some of the events show films, and have open discussion. We sometimes collaborate with other organizations on campus such as the Black Student Union or The National Advancement of Colored People.

Culture Night

Culture Night is an event that showcases the various cultures represented at the University of Tennessee. This event includes performances, food, and the retail of cultured-based products, such as jewelry. It happens every semester in the Frieson Black Cultural Center.

Mr. ZQ Male Scholarship Pageant

The Mr. ZQ Male Scholarship Pageant is an event that showcases the talented young men, from freshmen to seniors, that we have present on campus. There are 5 rounds of the pageant that highlight each young man. The rounds are opening number, personal styles, talent, business attire, and question and answer. Through these rounds a young man is chosen to be Mr. ZQ and will be rewarded the crown and a $500 scholarship. From that point on, Mr. ZQ would act as an active participate at Pi Epsilon events, which includes service.

Random Acts of Kindness

Random Acts of Kindness is a event that is held every year and happens at least once a month. This event is designed to give back to the campus by committing random deeds for the students. Some example of past ideas are free cupcakes/cake, free candy bags, and a social media challenge.

Sapphire Leadership Program

The Sapphire Leadership program is a program that helps incoming freshman and sophomore girls in navigating around campus, finding the best resources, and being of support to these young ladies. Throughout this journey, these young ladies will get the chance to have someone to go to in times of need and have assistance in anything they may need. We host events where the young ladies and their mentors can spend time together and mingle.
