Sigma Nu Enjoys Successful Spring Social Calendar

Sigma Nu enjoyed a very successful social calendar during the spring semester. The chapter participated in philanthropy events with seven sororities --- Zeta Tau Alpha’s Three Days for Zeta, Alpha Chi Omega’s Dodging Domestic Violence Dodge Ball Tournament, Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Kappa Olympics, Chi Omega’ Dream Connection, Delta Zeta’s Turtle Tug, Alpha Delta Pi’s Basketball Tournament and Pi Beta Phi’s Volleyball Tournament. This spring the chapter won the Delta Zeta’s Turtle Tug and Kappa Kappa Gamma’s Kappalympics. In addition, the chapter held six date parties or sorority mixers, participated in the annual Greek Week Habitat for Humanity built and ended the semester with their annual spring formal at the Sunsphere in downtown Knoxville.

Founder's Day 2014

The chapter held their annual spring Founder’s Day on Saturday, April 12th before the Orange and White football game. The chapter welcomed over 100 alumni, brothers and family members for lunch. During the Founder’s Day events each year, the chapter presents four annual awards. This year the winners were Man of the Year---Robert Stow, Athlete of the Year---Matt Warren, Scholar of the Year---Claudio Tombazzi and Alumni of the Year---Rossman Tarver. This year the chapter sponsored a golf tournament for alumni and brothers on Sunday morning at Three Ridges Golf Course.

Relay For Life 2014

Sigma Nu participated in the annual campus wide Relay for Life on Friday, April 12. Over 40 campus organizations came together in Circle Park for a night of walking and raising money for Relay for Life. The event raised $ 65.657.83. Sigma Nu finished second overall by raising $8,385.25. Brother Josh Raplee raised $1,920 and was named the top male fundraiser for the event. In fundraising events leading up to the event, Sigma Nu won the annual Relay for Life dodge ball tournament.

Annual Spring Boxing Tournament

Each spring semester fraternity members from each chapter on campus participate in the boxing tournament. It is one of the oldest and largest fraternity events in the country. The three day event attracts several thousand of college students from all over the southeast and this raised over $80,000 for charity.

This year Sigma Nu was represented by Will Coker, Worsham Ward, Nathan Stokes and Ryan Williams.

Philanthropy Week 2014

The Epsilon Eta chapter of Sigma Nu sponsored their annual Philanthropy Week in April. This year the week was titled Uknighted for Camp Kononia. Campus sorority chapters completed against each other with the proceeds going to Camp Kononia. Sigma Nu donated $944 to Camp K at the conclusion of the week.

Soccer IM Champions

Sigma Nu won the intramural soccer championship during their undefeated 2013 fall season. The chapter finished 6-0 with a 32 goal advantage. They defeated DTD 8 – 1 in the semi-finals and defeated Kappa Sig 3-2 in the finals.

Home Coming 2013

Sigma Nu and Chi Omega joined for Homecoming 2013. Their two weeks of hard work paid off with a second place Overall finish, with thirty campus organizations participating. Each year campus organizations may select five events to compete. Sigma Nu and Chi Omega participated and placed in the following events.

Family Weekend 2013

The brothers of Sigma Nu Fraternity hosted their annual Family Weekend dinner on Friday, September 21st. Each year the event coincides with the University’s annual Family Weekend. The dinner and program was held at the fraternity house on Friday night. The event was attended by over 150 brothers, candidates, family members and alumni. The event was catered by Chandler’s. The guest speaker was former Ambassador Margaret Scobey. Ambassador Scobey served as the Ambassador to Egypt from 2009-2012.

Recruitment Fall 2013

The brothers for Sigma Nu participated in the August 2013 IFC Recruitment process. The week started off with a bar-b-que and Lake Day party at the home of a local alumni on Lake Loudon. Recruitment Week was highly successful with the signing of 30 new candidates for the Epsilon Eta chapter of Sigma Nu Fraternity.
